Shirley, MA -- April 29, 2008 – If you are out and about Saturday, May 3rd, 2008, you may notice a few more Jeeps on the road than usual. That’s because May 3rd has been declared an international holiday in the Jeep world. It’s “Go Topless Day”. The brainchild of All Things Jeep of Shirley, MA, Go Topless Day honors an annual spring tradition celebrated by Jeep owners – the day the top comes off the Jeep. Taking the top off your Jeep and going for a ride is a Rite of Spring celebrated as truly the first day of spring by Jeep enthusiasts, especially here in New England. What started as an idea for a local event quickly grew to a worldwide phenomenon through the help of the Internet. Currently there are over 50 Jeep Clubs on 4 continents participating in the event.
Locally, in Massachusetts, All Things Jeep is hosting a Go Topless Day celebration at Oak Ridge Farm Stand in Lancaster, MA from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. The event is free and all Jeep owners are invited to attend. All topless Jeeps will receive free prizes and giveaways. This celebration will include music, food, ice cream, raffles, activities for the kids and plenty of Jeeps. Local Jeep and Off-Road clubs and vendors are attending and setting up booths. “Everyone has spring traditions,” said Jean Wnuk, co-owner of All Things Jeep, “whether it’s spring cleaning or planting the first flowers of the season. There are a lot of Jeep owners out there. And in our world, the best rite of spring is the day we remove the top from the Jeep. It’s truly a milestone day, especially here in New England. We decided to choose a day and celebrate that tradition. And we invite Jeep clubs and Jeep owners everywhere to join in the celebration.”
If you can’t make it to Lancaster, MA on Go Topless Day, you can still participate. From Maine to Nebraska to New Zealand to Florida, Jeep Clubs everywhere are sponsoring Go Topless activities. It is the largest coordinated event among Jeep owners ever to exist. More information can be found on the All Things Jeep website. All Things Jeep is also holding an online contest and the best photos taken on May 3rd will win $50 Gift Certificates to www.allthingsjeep.com. Everyone who submits a photo of him or herself in a topless Jeep will get a Go Topless Day commemorative decal. There will also be a prize for the Jeep Club with the most enthusiastic participation.
