      Video Review & Installation

I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the Smittybilt Extreme Sport Handles, fitting all 1987 and up Wranglers. Today, we're going to talk through the installation of these handles, which is a very simple one out of three wrenches. This is going to take less than five minutes to strap onto your sport cage, and we'll talk a little bit more about that install in just a second. We're also going to talk through the construction and a few of the features of these grab handles. When you decide you want to get a set of grab handles to make it easier to get in and out of your lifted or even stock-height Wrangler, first you have to decide whether you want a metal grab handle or a fabric grab handle. I personally really like a metal grab handle, because they're very, very solid. However, they are going to be significantly more expensive than a fabric handle, and the install is going to be a lot more involved. Once you decide that you like a fabric grab handle, they're all going to be pretty much the same. Some of them will have a slightly different material on the handle itself, whether that be neoprene or plastic, like these ones. Some are two straps versus three. But most of them are going to be very, very similar. I really like these in particular, because they don't go overboard with the branding. They just have a small Smittybilt tag on them. They are fairly priced, and they're just going to do their job. As far as the construction goes, these are a three-strap grab handle, which does give them a little bit more strength and security than the two-strap handles that are out there. These use a hook and loop fastener to go around the sport cage through a plastic clip, and fasten back onto themselves again. The handles themselves do have a rubberized plastic material on them, which gives them a little bit more substantial feeling when you're grabbing onto it, gives you something that you can really grab and pull on without feeling like it's going to bend and flex in your hand. Like I said, there are a lot of grab handles out there on the market that are going to be very similar to these. They're all going to work pretty much the same, and they're all going to be right around the same price. As far as the install goes, as I said, this is a very simple one out of three wrenches. This is going to take you less than 15 minutes to get these installed on your sport cage. All you need to do is peel back the Velcro, wrap it over the sport cage, through the plastic clips, and back onto itself, and you're finished. In about 15 minutes, you're going to have a secure grab handle that'll make it easier to get in and out of your Jeep. These are what I consider to be a pretty basic grab handle, and they come in at right around $20 for the pair, which is exactly where they should be priced. There are other ones out there that are right around the same price. Some maybe a little bit more if they have a different material on the handle, like a neoprene grab handle. Of course, as I said before, the steel handles are going to be significantly more expensive than these. But for a basic fabric grab handle, I think these are fairly priced. So if you're looking for a simple, basic, and inexpensive grab handle to make it easier for you and your passengers to get in and out of your Wrangler, I think this is going to be a really nice option. So that's my review of the Smittybilt Extreme Sport Handles, fitting all 1987 and up Wranglers that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.
