Merideth: Hey guys. So today, we're checking out the Overhead Storage Console fitting all 1997 to 2018 YJ, TJ, and JK Wranglers. So, storage in the jeep as you may know, is pretty difficult to come by. So this overhead storage console is a perfect solution for that. This will mount up to your roll bar and will offer you some additional space for any smaller items that you want to keep out of your center console, or your glove box, or just your cab area in general. And this will be great for any smaller items like I mentioned like, sunglasses, radios, while you're out on the trail, or your wallet, or really anything else you want quick access to while you're driving or while you're out on the trail. Now what I do like about this is that this is not only for the driver, it's for the passenger as well, and will offer you a storage compartment to reduce clutter inside of the jeep on both sides. Now as you can see here, this is gonna give you some pretty ample space inside of the console. So like I said, it is to fit smaller items, but you can put a number of smaller items inside of this console here. Now I do also like that it's very easy to open. Very easy to reach in the location that it is. And it snaps shut to make sure that nothing is going to fly out especially if you're out on the trail. Now speaking of things staying secure, this will also come with some felt pads to prevent anything from sliding around once you put them inside of the console. Now like I said, this is going to mount to the roll bar, and it's going to span the width of the roll bar which, again, is going to give you a lot of space. And it's going to be very easy to access. All you have to do is just reach up and open up that compartment. Now this will come with multiple nylon straps. These are going to be pretty heavy-duty and it's gonna come with heavy-duty Velcro to make sure that either side is secure. Now this will also come with a heavy-duty bracket. These will be made of a steel material with a nice, powder-coat finish. Now these are just going to add to the security of this thing, make sure that it's not moving around when it's mounted to your roll bar. And the black powder coat, it's going to protect from any rusting or corrosion on the metal underneath. That is going to be perfect if you take your top off often on your jeep, or you keep your top off all the time and want to make sure that those brackets are holding up.Now speaking of the construction and it being able to hold up, the console itself is made of a UV-resistant black plastic construction. Now first off, this is gonna just match with any interior that you have inside of your jeep. It's gonna have a very factory-style look to it. But it's also going to resist any fading considering it is UV-resistant. So just like I said about the brackets, if you do take your top off often, if you have your top off all the time and want to make sure that you have a storage compartment that is going to hold up to the brutal sun, then this is going to be a great choice. Overall, this is a very inclusive kit, and it's gonna come with everything that you need to install on your jeep, making it a no-brainer when it comes to easy-access storage. When it comes to price, this is gonna cost you roughly $200. And I think it's well worth that price point. Now comparing it to others in the category, this is going to be a very creative storage solution in where it's placed. I do really like the fact that it's over your head and it's very easy to access. Some other options may be similar to this. They may include visors, which may bump up that cost a little bit. Or other storage solutions are just going to go in other locations inside the jeep. Now, a lot of the options that you'll see in the front of the cabin will usually be for the dashboard, under the seat, or on the side of the center consoles. As for this, it's gonna give you a lot of storage in comparison to those choices, and is going to be a little bit easier to access especially while you're driving. So again, I think that this is a great choice if you're looking for a decent amount of storage for the things in the front of your jeep, and you're also looking for something that's out of the way but easy to access. Now when it comes to install, I'm gonna give this a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. This will be straightforward, taking you roughly a half hour to get the job done. You are gonna need some basic hand tools including a P3 Phillips-head screwdriver, so the larger one out of the bunch. And you're also gonna need a ½-inch open-ended wrench. Now speaking of the install, one of our customers here at Extreme Terrain has installed this on his jeep, and is going to walk you through all the steps, step-by-step. So, that is going to wrap it up for my review. Let's go ahead and hop into the install.Man: All right. So for the entire install I only needed two tools. It was a ½-inch wrench really, open-end, box-end combination wrench. You can use a socket and a ratchet too if you want to, but this is literally all I used. It comes with these foam pads. That's the first step here is to get these put in. And this is pretty much used for if you've got something, you can put your stuff in here so it doesn't slide around. So, I've already got this side put in pretty easy. It's got the sticky on the back. Just put it in there. I'll do this next one here. There's this one. That one's already done. So peel the back off. It's already got the sticky on there, the tape. Just put it in here. And it fits perfect, so I don't have to mess with it. It fits in there perfect. Sticks down just like that. The next side, this side here. Both of those are all stuck down. The next step is putting on the brackets. All right. So now that we've got the pads inside installed and stuck down, next we've got to put on these brackets. And these brackets go on top as you can see, like this. A screw goes in, and then a washer and nut on the backside. So that's what I'm gonna do now. So these holes are just right to where you still have to...I mean, it's not tight or anything, but it's enough to where you just gotta screw them into the plastic there just like that. Flip it over. You got a washer and a nut. Now these nuts, they are locking washers. And you got the washer and the nut there. And this is nice too because the screws go all the way through. They just loosely get screwed in there. So if you're doing it by yourself, you know, just two hands or whatever, then you can do it by yourself. You don't have to worry about the screws falling out from underneath. And this is a ½-inch wrench and I have my screwdriver here. So we're just gonna snug them down. Okay. Then we repeat the process on the other side, same thing. Flip it around here. And just like the other side, put this up here. Put your screws in. So just like the other side, need a washer and a nut here. It's got everything on. Now it's time to tighten it down. Okay. Now time for the next step.Okay. So the next step is putting on these straps it comes with. It comes with two sets of straps, four of each. There is a 14½-inch long strap which is this guy here, and that is for '03 and up Jeep Wranglers. I guess that's because they have a larger diameter roll bar. The other ones it comes with is for a '03 or older Wrangler, it comes with these ones here. So they pretty much go on the same way. It's a smaller diameter. So for this one, for my jeep we're gonna be using the longer ones. And so what you gotta do is...well, it's got this loop on the end here. And this has Velcro and then a spot for the Velcro to attach to here. So the way it's gotta go is the fuzzy side, the Velcro side, has to be up and then you thread it through both the holes here. You gotta do that for all four spots. But basically what I'll do is this will wrap around the roll bar. This will go through here. Once it wraps around the roll bar and then it will attach like this. So that's how that will go there. That's one. All right, there's the second one there. Try to get them about even. Okay. And that's pretty much it. Now it's ready to be installed into the jeep, and that is the next step.So this is before the install here. I took the top off, the frame panels off just to have better light. And so you can kind of see a little better. So this bar, the storage container is gonna get the overhead, so it's gonna get mounted right behind the sun visors. So it's probably, I'm guessing, gonna be about this far down, all the way down. All right. So here it is. I'm gonna get started on this one side at a time. Get up here. Just basically like I showed before exactly how I thought it was gonna go. It wraps around and then gets stuck there. I'll show you better on the other side exactly what I'm doing. Now if you have these little hand bars, these grab handles here, maybe we got to kind of finagle them out of the way a little bit, kind of get them situated. All right. So that's one side. I'll go to the other side here. So this is [inaudible 00:12:09.437] here. And also, if you can see here, I'm making sure to keep it to where the sun visors aren't gonna hit it. So right there it gives me plenty of room. Make sure I got plenty of slack. And so, same thing as the other side. What I'm gonna do is take this, run it through here like so, just like that, and then Velcro it down right over there just like that. Last one here. Thread it through and on back around just like that. And that's pretty much it. It's in there. It's good. It's solid, works, perfect.Merideth: That's gonna wrap it up for my review and the install of the Overhead Storage Console fitting all 1997 to 2018 YJ, TJ, and JK Wranglers.
