Hey guys. So, today I'm here with the Rugged Ridge Rearview Mirror Kit fitting all of 1987 and newer Jeep Wranglers. So, this is gonna be for that Jeep owner who's looking to do a little bit of interior restoration or they're looking to replace a damaged or worn out rearview mirror with something that's gonna hold up for a very long time. Now, obviously mirrors on your Wrangler are one of those important safety features to have. So having something that's going to hold up and function is very important. So this option by Rugged Ridge is going to do just that by replicating the OE construction as well as the OE function at a very affordable price point, making this the perfect restomod or the perfect replacement mod. So this is gonna be made of the same plastic material that your OE rearview mirror is gonna be made of. You're gonna have a stainless steel bar and or attachment point up at the windshield very similar to the OE construction. And you also are getting adhesive primer and the adhesive to make sure that this sticks to the windshield and last a very long time. Now what I also really like about this is that it's gonna keep the OE night shift function. So all you have to do is pull down this tab and that's going to reduce any brightness or any glare from any headlights or high beams that are behind you, making sure that you stay safe and you can see on the road at night. So like I mentioned before, this is gonna be a very affordable restomod at roughly $35. And this is gonna be your only choice on the page right now for a rearview mirror kit. However, I think that it's definitely worth that price point, you're getting all the OE features, you're getting the OE construction, you're getting that night shift feature, and you are getting everything that you need to install this on your Wrangler. So overall I think that price point is really worth it. And speaking of that install, it's gonna be very easy to do. Install is gonna be one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. Now, because you have to wait about 30 minutes for the adhesion process before you can mount up your mirror I would say it's probably gonna take you about an hour with some very basic hand tools. So speaking of the install, let's jump onto that now.The tools that I used for my install were a dry erase marker, quarter-inch drive ratchet, a razor blade, a 3-inch quarter-inch drive extension and a T20 Torx socket. So the first step of this install is just to mark up where we're going to mount up our rearview mirror. So I'm gonna take a dry erase marker and go to the outside of the windshield and make a mark. I'm just using a dry erase because that's gonna make it easy just to wipe off after we're finished mounting up our rearview mirror. Let's go ahead and head over to the front of our windshield. So there is a little bit of adhesive still stuck on the windshield from our previous rearview mirror. I'm just gonna mark where that is, just kind of outline it just so we have a nice spot where we can put in our new rearview mirror then we can head inside our Wrangler. So like I said, there was a little bit of adhesive left on the windshield after our previous rearview mirror. So what you wanna do is grab a straight razor and you're going to basically strip the window of all of that adhesive remnant so it's clear and the adhesion process for the new rearview mirror can promote correctly and it will last a very long time because there's no contaminants in that adhesive. So what I'm just gonna do is take that straight razor and get off all that previous adhesive and make sure that that is really clean because you can tell all of that is just the leftover glue. And then once that's clean we can move on to mounting up our button. So now we're ready to install our button, this is just gonna be a stainless steel plate that's going to stick to the windshield, and this is what our rearview mirror is going to slide onto and going to be attached to. That's our attachment point for our rearview mirror. So this is going to have a rounded edge up at the top and a flat bottom. You wanna make sure that the flat surface is gonna be the one that's facing the windshield and then you have some ridges on the back there, that's gonna be on the inside of that rearview mirror part. So you wanna make sure that this rounded top is facing upward, the tapered sides are facing down. And then we can take the cardboard piece off of the primer accelerator. So this is just going to be a primer that we're going to put on the back there, that's going to accelerate the adhesion process. Then we're going to take the adhesive and put a small dot in the middle and we're gonna press that onto our windshield for about 30 to 60 seconds and we're gonna let that cure for about 30 minutes before we go ahead and attach our rearview mirror. So first we're gonna take this cardboard cover off of our primer liquid. This is just going to be an outer tube and an inner tube. And then there's a little cotton swab down at the bottom that's going to make sure that this liquid rubs onto our button here. But we do have to crack it first. All right. So once that is cracked, it's gonna soak into that can down at the bottom and we can just rub that primer onto the face of the button. So once that is primed very well then we can put this back in here, put that to the side, grab our adhesion, now we don't need a lot of this, we just need a dot right in the center because when we press it on it's gonna spread out to the outer edges. All right, so there is our dot of adhesive, doesn't have to be great, probably like a pea size. So once you have the primer and the adhesive on there we're going to go up to the windshield at the spot where we need to be making sure that our button is straight and just press that onto the windshield. So our next step is to slide the rearview mirror onto our button there and then we can take a T20 Torx bit, I'm using a Torx socket and an extension and a quarter-inch drive ratchet and we're going to tighten down that set screw. So you're just gonna wanna tighten that up, make sure that set screw is hitting that back button in there, so this is pressed into place. So you don't wanna overtighten it, you just wanna make sure that that set screw is pushing up against that button so this is sturdy and in place. And then after you're done that then you're all set to go. That's gonna wrap it up for my quick review and install. Make sure you like and subscribe, guys. Description

Key Features. Driving around without a rearview mirror, or with one that's broken or doesn't stay in place is just plain dangerous. This Rugged Ridge Rear View Mirror Kit makes installling a replacement a snap. It comes with the button, or the metal piece that attaches to the windshield, plus the right kind of glue. Just like the stock setup, there's a night setting you activate by flipping the tab at the bottom of the mirror, avoiding getting blinded by other vehicles' bright headlights. Installation is incredibly simple and the mirror needs little maintenance.

Construction. The housing for the rear view mirror is made of plastic, just like the stock part, and it's durable enough to handle regular adjustments. It attaches to the windshield via the button, or a stainless steel bracket piece that's made to be incredibly tough. The mirror measures 9.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches tall. The included glue or adhesive is specially formulated just for attaching metal to glass, so you don't have to worry about the rear view mirror falling off or wobbling later.

Installation. This is one of the easier jobs to do on a Jeep, with absolutely no tools of any kind required. Before you start, you do need to clean the inside of the windshield where the mirror assembly goes really well, that way the glue works as well as possible. You squirt some glue onto an included applicator, then spread it onto the area of the windshield where you're planning to attach the mirror. Then you press the button in place for a minute, letting the glue set. After letting it cure for a few mintues, you hook the end of the mirror assembly to the bracket setup on the button and the job is done. Plan on the whole process taking at most an hour.

Application. This Rugged Ridge Rear View Mirror Kit is compatible with each 1966-2024 Jeep CJ and Wrangler model.
