Merideth: Hey, guys. So today, we're checking out the Rugged Ridge 3-Inch Double Tube Front Bumper, fitting all 2007 to 2018 JK Wranglers. So, if we're not a fan of your factory front bumper and you're looking for some more off-road or heavy-duty style and some protection for the front end of your JK, then this is gonna be a great choice to take a look into. Now, this will provide full front-end protection for your tires, as well as your grille with the over rider feature here, which will be great if you're looking for a lot of coverage when it comes to a front bumper. Not to mention the front bumper will do a great job at creating that classic tubular look and will be incredibly lightweight in comparison to some other heavy-duty options, which will save you on the front end when it comes to any front-end sag. Now, what I like about this choice in comparison to some other tubular options is that this will have two fog light openings that will offer you some better visibility while driving at night. I really like it because a lot of tubular options won't have that and it's nice that you can swap over your factory fog lights into this front bumper. Now speaking a little bit about the build of this bumper, this will be made of a steel tubular construction being very durable. So, if you take your Jeep off-road and you want that extra protection, this will be it. And it's gonna have a nice textured black powder coat finish on top that will protect the steel and also offer more of a heavy-duty or rugged look and match with any other textured black accessories. Now, what I also like about this option is that this will come with a cover plate for the top, and that's gonna cover up the frame rails that you can see right past this top tube here. Now, a lot of other front bumpers or front tubular options will not have that, so I like the fact that this is going to be very inclusive as a kit and really give it a finished look in comparison to some other choices. Now, when it comes to price, this will come in at roughly $350, which is pretty affordable for a heavy-duty front bumper. Now, when it comes to comparing these two other options available on the page, you're gonna see a lot of heavy-duty options that'll be made of a steel plate construction in comparison to this tubular option. Now, a lot of the time, those are going to have additional bells and whistles that this might not come with like recovery points. It may come with a winch plate or additional lighting, so on and so forth. That's where this is going to be pretty simplistic. It's not gonna have any of those choices as far as recovery points or winch plate is concerned. But I do like the fact it does include those fog lights. Now this will keep it on the pretty simple side as far as styling and these features are concerned, but again, you're getting a lot of protection and coverage in the front, not only for the front of the tires but also your grille as well. Now when comparing this to other tubular options, this is going to be a little bit more inclusive. Again, you're getting that cover plate for the top and the fog light openings as to where some other choices really won't have that, or they may have a different look to them. So, instead of the textured black here, they may have a gloss black or a polished stainless still finish. Now, overall, I think if you're a fan of the tubular look, you're looking for some better protection for the front and a heavy-duty look, then this is gonna be right up your alley. As far as install is concerned, I'm gonna give this a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you roughly an hour to install with some basic hand tools. And one of our installers here is gonna walk you through that process step by step. So, that's gonna wrap it up from my review, let's go ahead and get into the install.Man: Tools required for this install include: an impact gun, an electric ratchet, a 3/8 ratchet, a couple of different size extensions, a swivel socket, 8-millimeter socket, and then a shallow and deep 18 and 19-millimeter sockets, and a Phillips head screwdriver. What's up, guys? Today, we're gonna be installing a bumper on our Wrangler. So first, we're gonna watch a quick uninstall video for how to get it off, and then I'll meet you back here for the install.Merideth: So, the first step to taking off our bumper is disconnecting our fog lights, and then we can go ahead and get underneath the bumper so we can start dissembling all of that hardware. You will need an 18-millimeter deep socket and a ratchet, as well as something comfortable to lay on. So, just disconnect the fog lights. All you have to do is push down the tab and we can take that off and set that aside. Then we can do the same thing for the other one.So, you're gonna have four studs with four nuts on either side of your frame rail. We are at the innermost bolts here. You're gonna be using an 18-millimeter deep socket to remove the nuts. And I am also using a 3-inch extension. This is just gonna help me clear the bumper down here. So, the outer portion will be a lot easier to see. So, what we're gonna do now is remove the 18-millimeter nuts that are holding on to the studs on our bumper. You're gonna have two on the outer portion of the frame rail and two on the inner portion. The inner portion's gonna be a little bit hard to see. So, you will have two here. We're gonna use an 18-millimeter deep socket to remove those. I'm also using a 3-inch extension just to clear this bottom portion of the bumper. So, now we're at the innermost driver-side bolt, you will have this vacuum pump here if you have a 2012 to 2018 JK, so I wouldn't recommend the extension. But if you have a 2007 to 2011 JK, you can use that extension to help you out. So, after all the hardware's disconnected, we can take off our bumper.Man: So, now with our bumper removed, we can go ahead and remove our fog lights. Now, these are gonna be four 8-millimeter screws on each side that you can also use a flat-head screwdriver for. Ours only have two on each side, but yours will have the four at home. Now we can remove these screws with an 8-millimeter socket. So, now we can install our fog lights into our new bumper. So, we're gonna use the included machine screws with washers, and they're gonna be Phillips heads this time. So, now that we have our fog lights installed into our new bumper, we can raise it up onto the car and thread in our first three washers and nuts. And in the bottom outside corner, we're not gonna thread through yet because we have a bracket we're gonna install on that. Bolt the first three, come back and get that last one at the end.Now we can slide over our washers and thread on our nuts. And then on the bottom outside stud, we're gonna do a washer, our bracket, another washer, and our locking nut. So, I actually misspoke, the 18-millimeter nuts are gonna be the stock ones. The new included nuts are gonna be 19 millimeters. So we can snug those down. And now we can repeat that same process on the other side. Now with our bumper installed, we can go ahead and reconnect our fog lights. Our last step is to install our cover shield. And then we have four included push clips that are gonna go up front and then down on the sides. And now we can reinsert our two factory push clips.Merideth: So, that is going to wrap it up for my review and install of the Rugged Ridge 3-Inch Double Tube Front Bumper, fitting all 2007 to 2018 JK Wranglers.
