I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com, and this is my review of the Rugged Ridge Three-Inch Bull Bar, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. There is a different version of this bar available for the 2007 to 2009 and the 2010 to 2016 JKs because Jeep did make a little bit of a change to the crash bar. This is also available in the black that you see here, but also in a polished finish or in a black bar with a polished plate. This is for those of you who are running a factory front bumper on your Jeep but want to dress up the front end a little bit. This does decrease ground clearance a little bit, and while it does have a skid plate built into it, it's more of a lightweight skid plate. It'll do a good job of moving brush and branches but isn't going to hold up to hardcore off-roading and rocks. So if you are somebody who takes your Jeep off-road a good bit, this might not be the best option for you. However, if you like the look of a bull bar and you want a place to mount some auxiliary lights, this is a really nice option that, in my opinion, is also fairly priced. This bull bar is built from a three-inch diameter steel tubing, and it's available with your choice of either a gloss black powder coat or a polished finish. Again, the skid plate that's built into it is a styling cue and it will move light brush and branches out of the way, but it's not going to do a great deal to protect your undercarriage. That being said, there isn't really much in that area of the Jeep to be protected anyway, so that shouldn't be a big deal for most of you guys. This bull bar does add a little bit of function to the front end of your Jeep by including two light mounting tabs right up top. Those will accept any aftermarket auxiliary light that's designed to mount on a traditional single post mount. The bull bar includes all of the hardware that you'll need to get it installed on the Jeep, and like I said before, it is designed to work with your factory front bumper. If you have an aftermarket front bumper and you wanna run this bull bar as well, you may have to do some modification to either the bar or the bumper. Getting this bull bar installed on your Jeep is a really simple process, mostly because it's designed to be completely bolt-on. You don't have to do any cutting or any drilling. However, as I mentioned before, there are two different bull bars available for two different year range JKs, so you have to make sure you get the right one for your Jeep. The installation process for this starts by removing the splash shield off the front of your Jeep, if you're still running one. You can retain that because, if you want to, you can make some trims and reinstall it. Getting the splash shield off is pretty easy. All you'll need is a trim tool or a screwdriver to pop a few plastic clips off. Once that's removed, you can start installing the brackets with the included hardware to get your bull bar bolted up. There are a few different brackets that you'll install onto the frame of the Jeep and onto the crash bar, again, using the included hardware, and from there, you just have to install the bar onto your new bracketry. After that, you'll hold the splash shield up and mark where you need to make your trims in order to get it reinstalled, if you decide you wanna reinstall it. From there, it's just a matter of making those cuts, removing the bull bar, putting the splash shield back on, and doing the final installation of the bull bar. There is a little bit of adjustability, so make sure you get it sitting just how you like it before you tighten everything up. The whole installation of this bar shouldn't take you more than two hours, and you won't need any specialty tools, just some traditional hand tools. There are a few different bull bars out there that are of a similar design, and most of them are right around the same price as well. And in my opinion, that price is fair for what you get. This bull bar here has nice welds, it has nice finish. It does offer a little bit of function in the way of these light mount tabs and a little bit of light protection from brush. However, it's not a hardcore, heavy duty piece that offers a ton of function, and I think it's appropriately priced. So if you're running a factory front bumper on your Jeep and you're looking to change up the look or maybe you're just looking to add some light protection to move brush and branches out of the way and some light mount tabs, this is a nice option. Again, I think it's really appropriately priced for what it is, and if you like the look, I'd say this is a good product. So that's my review of the Rugged Ridge Three-Inch Bull Bar, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.
