      Video Review & Installation

Hey, guys. So today I'm here with the Smittybilt Water Resistant Cab Cover with the door flaps, fitting all 1992 to 2006 YJ and TJ Wranglers. So everybody loves taking the top off of their Wrangler when the warmer weather is rolling up. However, if you can't put the top back on right away or you just don't want to, your cab area is left open to the world. So this cab cover by Smittybilt is gonna be a perfect solution to keeping prying eyes out of your Wrangler, critters out of your Wrangler at night. This is even gonna do a great job at keeping any inclement weather out of your Wrangler or even if it's nice outside and your Jeep is just sitting out in the sun, this is gonna do a great job at protecting your interior from those harmful UV rays. This is even gonna be perfect if you want to roll it up and put it in the back of your Wrangler for any of those sticky situations, making it very easy to put on and take off whenever you like for that extra protection. This will be your most affordable option for a cab cover with the door flaps at about $100. Now there are some other options on the site when it comes to protecting your Wrangler and there are full covers but if you're only looking for protection while your top is off of your Wrangler, then a cab cover is probably gonna be the best for you. Now there are other options for cab covers that don't include the door flaps. However, if you do like taking your doors off as well as your top and like keeping them off, then I think the extra couple of bucks is worth it for that extra protection. So install's gonna be a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and I'll show you how to do that now. The tools that I used for my install were an impact wrench and a 3/16 inch deep socket. So our first step to this install is actually to lay out our cab cover. We wanna make sure it's oriented in the correct way before we put it on our Wrangler. So you wanna make sure that the Smittybilt label is facing the front. That's the part that's gonna cover our windshield. So our second step is to just fold it in half. This is just gonna make it a lot easier to maneuver on the back of our Wrangler since it is pretty heavy weight. You also wanna be careful that you don't fling the cab cover over since it does have buckles and straps. You don't want that to scratch your paint. So we're just gonna do that and then we can flip this over the Jeep.So what we can do next is just take the cover and we can put it over the top of our roll bar. Now we are gonna open up our tailgate to get our spare tire out of the way, give us a little bit more room so when we're ready to secure it down into our belt rail we can do that. So once you have it most of the way over the roll bar, we can start to pull it forward. And you will have a piece that we're gonna tuck around our windshield so you can pull it forward as far as you can. So we're gonna try to snug it up on our windshield as good as possible so we can attach the back portion with the tabs to go into the belt rail.So we're just gonna fit this around the roll bar and as you can tell, the inside material, as well as the outside material, are very different. So on the outside, you're gonna have a gray Space Age fabric. This is gonna be a lot more heavyweight than some other options on the site for cab covers. It's gonna be similar to a vinyl material. However, it's still gonna be breathable and allow airflow inside and outside of the cab area while you have this covered. You also have a nice fabric material on the inside. That's gonna prevent any surface damage happening to your paint and I really like that that's there as an extra protective measure. Now as you can tell, you also get these heavy-duty nylon buckles and straps. We're gonna hook these underneath our body in just a second but we're gonna get this fitted first. So now that we have the cover over our roll bar, we can start attaching everything down. Now I'm gonna start in this back corner here with our belt rail retainer so this is going to be a plastic tab very similar to what you would see on your soft top. We're just gonna tuck that in the back corner here and work our way around. So when you go on the other side, that will pull this tight. There will also be another one right here above your fender that we can tuck into place. Now we can go ahead and do the other side and start attaching our buckles and straps. So now we can hook our hook underneath our body and go ahead and tighten this down. Now we don't wanna tighten it down too much because we still wanna get both sides secured and adjusted but we can keep on moving. Great. Now we can move to the back. This is gonna hook into the bottom of our body here. So one of our last steps is just to secure our back straps around our taillight and there will actually be a little buckle here that we can secure that into. This is just gonna be an extra preventative measure to make sure that your top is not going anywhere. So this step is completely optional. This is another preventative measure to make sure that your cab cover will not come off. As you can see, there is an elastic band that's gonna go ahead and strap around our spare tire and spare tire carrier. However, we have a large, knobby spare tire on our Wrangler and the elastic band will not fit around it. If you have a stock spare tire, then it may be able to squeeze around. However, we're just gonna quickly pop our spare tire off, get it around and make sure that this is fully secured. So I'm using a 13/16 inch deep socket to do that or whatever your lug nut size is. Then you can go ahead and tighten that down.So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install in the Smittybilt Water Resistant Cab Cover with the door flaps, fitting all 1992 to 2006 TJ and YJ Wranglers.
