      Video Review & Installation

Hey, guys. Today, I'm here with Rugged Ridge 2-inch Hitch Receiver Extension fitting all year Wranglers. So upgrading your wheels and tires is very popular in the Jeep world, as we all know, but doing that, you can run into some small and very annoying issues, one being not having enough clearance on the rear end of your Wrangler to mount up any hitch-mounted accessories because your spare tire is too big. This option by Rugged Ridge is gonna be a perfect solution to just that, giving you a ton of clearance in the back here, with 12 extra inches of clearance, actually, to mount up any hitch-mounted accessories while clearing your larger wheel and tire on the back here or hooking up the trailer, just giving you more room to work with. This will also work with any standard 2-inch hitch receiver, whether it be OEM, aftermarket, or welded up to a heavy-duty rear bumper like we have on ours. So this is gonna be roughly $50, and, personally, I think that that is at a very good price because this does look and feel solid, made of quality materials. You can tell that it's gonna get the job done and last a long time. So there are actually no other universal extensions to mount up any hitch-mounted accessories for a little bit of extra clearance. All of those other options that you will be seeing on the site for hitch-mounted accessories will be extensions of some other sort where they have specific purposes, like a step to get into the back of your cargo area or a hook for recovery. So if you're looking for a universal option to keep your options open with what you wanna mount on the back of your Wrangler, this is gonna be your best one.So install's gonna be a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It's gonna take you no time at all with no hand tools required. All you need is a hitch pin to get the job done. So speaking of that, let's jump into that now.So, overall, this hitch receiver extension is gonna offer you about 12 inches of extra room to mount up all of your accessories. Now, this is gonna also be very durable made of a solid steel construction. It has a black gloss finish on it, which makes it look really nice, and it's gonna protect the steel underneath. So speaking of durability, this is gonna have a 175-pound tongue rating, so it is gonna be very strong and you're gonna be able to tow with this. However, I would keep in mind that you don't wanna exceed the OEM specifications for towing. Now, this is a perfect example of why you would want to get an extension like this. So we have a heavy-duty rear bumper mounted up to the back of our Wrangler with a welded tow hitch, and we have a 33 mounted up here. So as you can tell, there's not a lot of room if you're looking to mount up a bike rack, if you're looking to mount up any other accessories that involve clearing this tire. So you can only imagine what a 35 or a 37 would be like, so this is a perfect option to clear this and still mount up your accessories. So this does not include a hitch pin, so I would recommend to get, actually, two of those, one for securing it to your hitch receiver and one for securing down your accessories. So as you can see here, you do have two holes. One is gonna be a little bit more pushed in, and then the other is gonna offer you the most extension out of this hitch receiver extension. So we are going to pick the last hole. That's gonna give us just enough extension to clear our tire here that we can stick our pin through and secure it down with our clip. So now you're ready to mount up your accessories. So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install. For more videos like this, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
